"Once you feel free within yourself, you can do whatever you want peacefully, knowing that not a single thing can trigger your mind into self-doubt."
RISK MAGAZINE: What does it mean to be free?
CORIN CHRISTIAN: Freedom is dependent on feeling comfortable in your skin with no limitations or hesitations. Once you feel free within yourself, you can do whatever you want peacefully, knowing that not a single thing can trigger your mind into self-doubt.
RISK MAGAZINE: Do you see your body as art? Have you always seen it that way? What work did it take to see that?
CORIN CHRISTIAN: I see my body as art in a way that others may not. Not only because of the masculinity or sculpture of my body, but because of what it projects when being photographed. It didn’t take much for me to realize my body as art because it exudes so much emotion.
RISK MAGAZINE: How much does outside validation contribute to your overall self-esteem?
CORIN CHRISTIAN: Outside validation doesn't really affect the way my self-esteem works. I validate myself enough to know that negativity can't get in the way of how I view myself physically or mentally. Why seek validation from individuals that need to work on themselves just as much as I do?
"I never know if I'm being fetishized based on my skin color or the size of my penis."
RISK MAGAZINE: How does racism affect your social, romantic and sexual relationships as well as your relationship to your own sexuality and the way you socialize?
Corin Christian: Racism in our generation gets tricky when it comes to sexual relationships. I never know if I'm being fetishized based on my skin color or the size of my penis. Socially, it's hard to pinpoint who actually likes you for you or who wants you for what you have.
RISK MAGAZINE: What does self-love and self-celebration look like for you?
CORIN CHRISTIAN: Self-love for me comes from being my authentic self. The way that I carry myself and the mindset I have when it comes to expressing myself is amazing. Self-celebration on the other hand, I find myself always needing to improve on as I get older. Celebrate the within moments but always realize I will never be as perfect as I want to be. Day to day we trigger our flaws that need to be fixed.
